Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
