Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.
The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.
However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the position.
The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.
Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
